Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Bishopbriggs are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Bishopbriggs, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence that corresponds to the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made online, via telephone, or at our Bishopbriggs office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards through secure payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A condition report will be completed and signed at this time. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, acknowledging normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply for returns with less fuel. If you anticipate a delay in returning the vehicle, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in extra charges. Additionally, you will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during your rental, plus an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details, including excess amounts, can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, and we suggest reviewing them thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation Policy and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Usage
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not intended for, nor should it exceed specified passenger or weight limits. Driving outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bishopbriggs is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
